Our principals are degree-qualified, with significant managerial and technical experience across the full field life cycle. We focus specifically on supporting small, independent operators, from pre-fund raise technical support through to well delivery, across all environments — deepwater, shallow water and onshore. That breadth gives us the skills to deliver to the highest standards of quality, environmental performance and safety, while keeping well costs low.
At least one Bedrock principal is personally involved in every project, from concept to close-out — a deliberate approach that keeps our standard of service consistent and puts real experience behind every decision. That same discipline underpins our own detailed Wells Management System, which forms the basis for how we plan and deliver wells and which we're happy to make available to clients who want to adopt it as their own.
Phil Church is a Drilling and Project Manager with nearly 30 years of experience. He holds a B.Sc. in Geological Sciences from the University of Leeds and Shell's Well Engineering Round 1 and 2 certification, and began his career with Shell and Schlumberger IPM before serving as Drilling Director for African Petroleum. As a Bedrock Principal, Phil has led well engineering and drilling operations for small, independent operators, particularly across Africa, as well as the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Phil also has extensive expert witness and technical audit experience, providing independent opinion in well engineering disputes and assurance audits.
Fariz Najafov is Bedrock's Well Engineering Manager, with significant well engineering experience initially developed with BP. His skills lie in the detailed planning and execution of land and offshore drilling operations, and he has extensive experience delivering projects across Africa, Kurdistan and Eastern Europe. As a Bedrock Principal, Fariz provides the technical systems, engineering and support that underpin every Bedrock project, working closely with clients and rig teams to ensure a consistent technical standard is achieved from planning through to execution.
